Welcome to my blog, the hub of my stories, poems, and essays. I, Kwirky Kate, am an aspiring writer and I am looking forward to sharing my work with you. When I was eight years old I was given a pink diary which I decorated with plastic gems. I distinctly remember the excitement I felt when I began journaling in it. From that moment I also began writing creative short stories. I’ve looked back on those stories and laughingly realized most of them contained some variation of a princess riding a horse through the woods (horses and horseback riding are another passion of mine). When I started college in 2014 I began a minor in creative writing. I have loved exploring every genre, but poetry holds a special place in my heart. Growing up I memorized poems as part of my curriculum, and to this day I can recite Robert Louis Stevenson and Kenneth Graham by heart. In college I moved away from rhyme schemes and explored free verse poetry after the style of Black Mountain College. I have also written more short nonfiction and fiction pieces, and am hoping to write a novel in the future. I hope you enjoy reading my work, and if you’d like to share your thoughts I’d love to hear them in the comments or via email.
Good day, my friends!
